Objectives of the Department

The department was established to:

  1. Equip students with a solid foundation in communication, linguistics, and related fields through rigorous academic programs, promoting both theoretical understanding and practical skills development.
  2. Prepare students for successful careers in communication, media, linguistics, public relations, education, and related fields by offering relevant coursework, practical experience, and industry engagement opportunities.

Message from the Chairman of the Department

Welcome to the Department of Humanities at Murang’a University of Technology. Our department is dedicated to providing comprehensive training in communication, linguistics, and related fields. Our goal is to equip students with the expertise and skills necessary to thrive in today’s fast-paced, interconnected world.

Our programs are designed to offer academic knowledge, practical research, and analytical skills that prepare students for careers in mass communication, public relations, corporate communication, development communication, and linguistics. Whether your interest lies in shaping public narratives, managing corporate communication strategies, or advancing language and cultural studies, we are committed to helping you excel.

We are proud to offer a wide range of diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs in journalism, public relations, communication and linguistics that are attuned to current societal needs.

In addition to these programs, our department plays a key role in supporting the Bachelor of Education (Arts) program, offering essential courses in English, Literature, Kiswahili, Religious Education, History, and Geography.

Our faculty members are dedicated to academic excellence, innovative pedagogy, and impactful research. Through innovative curricula, we aim to produce graduates who are leaders in communication and linguistics, capable of contributing meaningfully to society and addressing pressing global challenges.
