The aim of the Directorate is to establish linkages and collaborations with industry, academia, stakeholders, governmental, non-governmental organizations and international institutions. The Directorate coordinates all forms of collaborations and partnerships with the help of Linkages, Outreach and Partnerships Committee appointed by the Vice Chancellor.
The committee comprises of various faculty members in the University. The role of the committee is to advise the University on linkages matters. The Directorate aims at establishing new linkages and maintaining the existing ones in furtherance of the University’s vision and mission.
Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) participated in the 2022 ASK Nyeri show and scooped three awards. They took the second best University Stand award, second best Local Manufacturers Stand award, and third best Show Theme Interpretation. The Directorate of Linkages, Outreach and Partnerships (DLOP) led the University to exhibit at the show which was held at the Kabiruini grounds.
The Directorate has engaged in community outreach events. It partnered with Equity Group Foundation and the Ministry of Education to plant ten thousand tree seedlings at Mariira farm.
The Directorate also donated foodstuffs and other personal effects to Murang’a Prisons and Murang’a Children’s Remand and Juvenile facilities. In addition, it worked with the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management to train 30 youths in food and nutrition. The training also included value addition in fruit and vegetable farming.
DLOP participated in Kenyatta ATC Stakeholders Farmers Day at Mariira Farm. It showcased innovations and products by the University. It also trained farmers on modern agricultural practices. The community was also sensitized on wetland conservation.
