Secretary Murang’a University of Technology Council
Prof. Dickson Nyariki is the Vice Chancellor of Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) and a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University. He has extensive experience in university leadership, agricultural economics, range management, research, international development, and higher education administration.
Prior to his appointment as Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyariki served as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Human Resource Management, at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), and as Deputy Principal, Administration and Finance, at South Eastern University College (SEUCO). He also served as Regional Coordinator with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and subsequently as Subregional Coordinator with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Earlier in his academic career, he served as Chairman of the Department of Range Management at the University of Nairobi, among other academic and administrative leadership positions.
Prof. Nyariki holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Range Management from the University of Nairobi, and a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nairobi, He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Crops for Arid Lands from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Reading, United Kingdom.
Prof. Nyariki has an established record of research and scholarly publication and has supervised numerous postgraduate students at both Master’s and PhD levels. His academic and professional work spans agricultural economics, range management, agricultural development, natural resource management, and sustainable development.
